At present, most natural gas pipelines are made of PE pipes. The detection principle of traditional pipeline detectors is based on the application of voltage signals on the pipeline and the formation of induced currents on the pipeline. Then the receiver receives the induction signal to determine the depth and direction of the pipeline position. For natural gas pipelines made of PE material, pipeline detectors cannot detect them, and ground penetrating radar is needed in this case. In terms of its principle, it emits an electromagnetic wave of a known frequency underground. When the electromagnetic wave is transmitted underground, it encounters different media and forms different reflection waveforms. By judging the pipeline based on the reflected waveform, its principle determines that it can detect both metal and non-metal pipelines.
